COLUMBIA, S.C. – Lakya Brookins from the Gamecock track and field team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Brookins ran the nation’s third-fastest time in the 60m dash with her win at the Tyson Invitational. Brookins ran 7.23 to clock her first NCAA automatic qualifying time of the year, making her one of only four women in the nation to earn a ticket to the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Brookins has won three of her four meets this season and was runner-up in the only meet she didn’t win.
