COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina cross country team has earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors for the ninth consecutive year after posting a team GPA of 3.64 in the fall semester. The team GPA ranks 11th in the nation, marking the fourth straight year the Gamecocks posted a team GPA in the top 15.

Head cross country coach Stan Rosenthal’s team has consistently excelled in the classroom and has earned the All-Academic Team honor each of the past nine seasons. Out of the 394 Division I institutions that sponsor cross country, Rosenthal’s teams were No. 14 in 2006, No. 6 in 2007 and No. 1 in 2008 before again making the top 15 this season.

To be honored as an All-Academic Team, teams were required to compete and compile a team score in an NCAA Regional Meet and have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Ten Southeastern Conference teams received All-Academic Team honors, with South Carolina ranking in the top three in the conference for the fourth straight season.
