COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina seniors Pedro Campos and Diego Cubas earned bids to the NCAA Individual men’s tennis championships in both singles and doubles. Campos, ranked No. 29 in singles, and Cubas, ranked No. 52, were among the 48 at-large bids into the NCAA Singles Championship. Making up the nation’s No. 25-ranked doubles team, the duo collected one of the 21 at-large bids into the NCAA Doubles Championship.

A first-team All-SEC selection, Campos is making his NCAA Individual Championship debut this season. He is 17-2 in singles this season, including a 7-1 mark against nationally-ranked opponents. His 9-1 mark in the SEC regular season made him just the second player in Gamecock history to finish with that record playing in one of the top three spots in the singles lineup. Campos won 16 straight matches earlier this season, tying for the third-longest win streak in school history.

For the second year in a row, Cubas qualified for both the singles and doubles championships. This season, the two-time second-team All-SEC selection who played mostly in the No. 1 singles position for the Gamecocks posted a 19-14 overall record, including five wins over nationally-ranked opponents. He closed the dual-match season with a pair of wins over top-100 opponents and midway through the season he topped a pair of top-60 foes in SEC action.

In doubles action, Campos and Cubas teamed up just as the Gamecocks began their SEC regular-season schedule. The duo quickly established themselves among the elite tandems in the conference and the nation. They won four of their first five matches against nationally-ranked opponents to break into the national rankings themselves in early April. They finished the dual-match season with an 8-5 record, including six wins over ranked opponents, half of which came against teams ranked in the top 50 at the time of the match.

Both the singles and doubles events will take place May 26-31 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The bracket for the two single-elimination tournaments will be released on Tue., May 25.
