COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team will host its annual Fall Alumni Weekend, Sept. 16-19, 2010, in Columbia. Festivities will begin with Gamecock soccer alumnus Doug Allison being inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in a dinner ceremony** on Thursday, Sept. 16, in The Zone at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Soccer action begins on Friday, the first day of the annual Gamecock Classic. UConn will battle Kentucky at 5 p.m, in the event’s opening contest, followed by a 7:30 p.m. matchup between South Carolina and Iona. Saturday begins with an Alumni Match set to begin at 11 a.m. at Stone Stadium, followed by the Gamecock football team’s 7 p.m. contest versus upstate rival Furman at Williams-Brice Stadium. Allison will be announced at halftime of the football game as one of Carolina’s eight inductees into the Athletics Hall of Fame.

Play at Stone Stadium resumes on Sunday as Iona and Kentucky meet on the pitch at 11 a.m. followed by South Carolina versus UConn at 1 p.m. in the final match of the Gamecock Classic.

South Carolina begins the 2010 campaign when it travels to face High Point in an exhibition contest on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
