AUBURN, Ala. — Junior Anya Morgina teamed with freshman Dominika Kanakova to win the doubles title in flight 3 at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday.
Morgina and Kanakova defeated Joehse and Macfarlane from Alabama 8-5 to finish 3-0 at the event. Morgina then posted a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win against Alexandra Cercone from Florida in flight 3A to reach the finals.
Miljana Jocic and Madeleine Saari-Byström registered a 9-8(4) triumph over Alabama’s Emery and Welcher to finish in third place in flight 4 of the doubles.
Saari-Byström posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Danielle Terpko of Mississippi State in a consolation match in flight 4A. Jocic lost her match-up with Florida’s Caroline Hitimana in flight 3A, as did Kanakova to Erica Robertson from Vanderbilt in flight 4B.
Play in the SEC Fall Coaches Classic concludes Sunday.
