COLUMBIA, S.C. – Fresh off its 1-0 victory over No. 5 Tulsa, the 20th-ranked South Carolina men’s soccer team is set to host NC State on Tuesday in non-conference play. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium. The Gamecocks enter the contest with a 6-3-1 overall record, while NC State holds a 5-5-1 mark.

South Carolina split a pair of road contests versus top 25 opponents last week in Conference USA action, falling 3-1 against No. 8 SMU, and rebounding with a 1-0 win over No. 5 Tulsa. South Carolina’s win over Tulsa was its first over the Golden Hurricane since the 2005 campaign. Senior defender Will Traynor tallied his fourth goal of the season and the first game winner of his career in the win. Traynor and classmate Blake Brettschneider lead the Gamecocks with four goals each, as Brettschneider scored Carolina’s lone goal against SMU.

Gamecock goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer collected his fifth shutout of the season versus Tulsa. The senior now has 24 shutouts for his career, just 1.5 shutouts away from matching Henry Ring for second all-time in South Carolina history in the category.

NC State rides a two-game unbeaten streak into Columbia, having defeated Georgia Southern, 3-2, on Oct. 5, and earning a 0-0 draw with No. 11 Duke last Friday. The Wolfpack is led by senior defender Tyler Lassiter with five goals and three assists on the year, while junior forward Craig Sutherland paces the squad with 25 shots, including 10 on goal.

In net for NC State, junior goalkeeper Will Mackvick owns a 1.67 goals against average in 11 appearances. The Wolfpack netminder has collected 36 saves on the year and two shutouts.
