“As a coach you don’t get too many players like that in your coaching career. [Val is] an incredible, driven young lady both on and off the court. To see her come in and do what she did, I’m really not surprised because I see her work ethic every day. So I was very happy, very comfortable with her on the floor. I think our team, her teammates were as well.”

“This was a game I was happy to see them bring their offensive game. They did a great job. I thought they shot too many jumpers at one point in the game, but I think La’Keisha [Sutton] really got her offense going which was great. She drove to the basket and hit big bucket after big bucket once they made their run.”

“Just excitement and uncertainty. I didn’t know what to expect coming into today. But everybody has been so positive. Once the first shot hit, my confidence came back.”

“We knew we had to fight back. They had a great run from the four-minute mark of the first half. We knew we had to fight back. Coach [Staley] is that type of person. We just put our heads down and stayed disciplined to what she taught us.”
