Final Stats

ATHENS, Ga.Malik Cooke continued his strong play since re-entering the starting lineup by leading South Carolina with 11 points, but the Gamecocks couldn’t overcome an anemic shooting effort in a 64-48 loss to Georgia Saturday night at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Gamecocks shot 1-for-19 from 3-point range and 17-for-60 (.283) overall in a night where it seemed nothing would fall for South Carolina. Cooke, who is averaging 14.6 points the last five games, also added nine rebounds and two steals for the Gamecocks (14-13, 5-9 SEC).

Trey Thompkins led Georgia with 20 points and eight rebounds along with a game-high three blocks. Travis Leslie added 15 for the Bulldogs (19-9, 8-6 SEC).

Sam Muldrow and Ramon Galloway each put 10 points on the board for South Carolina. Galloway tied his career high with four steals. Lakeem Jackson saw the court for the first time since the first meeting between the Gamecocks and Bulldogs on Feb. 12 after missing the past three games due to injury. He added two points in 13 minutes.

South Carolina hosts Tennessee Thursday night at 7 p.m. for Senior Day. The contest will air live on ESPN and is the final home game for seniors Sam Muldrow and Johndre Jefferson.
