COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina sophomore Harry Menzies (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) was named to the SEC Men’s Tennis Community Service team, the league announced today. Each of the 20 SEC-sponsored sports has a Community Service Team, which looks to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community.

For the Gamecocks, Menzies has been active in both Columbia and his hometown of Charlotte throughout his career. Earlier this spring, he participated in the “Real Men Read” program at Joseph Keels Elementary School, and has packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child the last two years. A volunteer at the Greek Festival and a participant in the SEC’s “Yes We Can” food drive, Menzies also played in tennis tournaments to raise funds for breast cancer research the last two summers.

Menzies and the rest of the Gamecocks’ men’s tennis team is slated to open play at the SEC Tournament in Gainesville, Fla., on Thu., April 21, at 9 a.m. against sixth-seeded Auburn.
