South Carolina Head Coach, Ray Tanner
Opening Statement

It was great to bounce back and get a win tonight after losing a tough one on Sunday. It was a little bit extra special seeing Steven Neff on the mound again. After running into the fence on Sunday, it looked like he wouldn’t be able to go, and then he was able to go. He gave us five innings, and I was happy with his outing. We played pretty well, got a few timely hits and were able to win.

On starting Steven Neff tonight…
We wanted to get him up today so he’d have that extra day should we decide to use him sometime this weekend. That was the plan to put him up on Tuesday, if he did feel good and pitch well, he would have that extra day. He threw 82 pitches, so he may or may not be okay by Saturday or Sunday.

On the pitching staff this week…
Patrick Sullivan will start tomorrow. He’s been on hold. (Steven) Neff may or may not be out there this weekend. He hasn’t been out there in awhile. He did throw 82 (pitches). Arkansas is predominately a right-handed hitting club, so the matchup might not be the best. But, the fact that he had a pretty good outing gives us another option. I’m not trying to be evasive. I’m not sure what we’re going to do after (Michael) Roth. There’s a chance that we move (Forrest) Koumas up a day and Sunday would be determined.

Steven Neff, Pitcher
On being ready for tonight’s game…

Sunday, when I ran into the wall, I was kind of sore and stiff on my left shoulder. Yesterday, I didn’t think I’d be ready for today. Today comes around and I felt fine. I did some treatment and work with the trainers yesterday, so I felt fine for today.

DeSean Anderson, Designated Hitter
On how his hamstring injury affects him…

It’s more mental after you (physically) recover from it; I’m just running smart. On balls I know are base hits or sacrifice flies I’m not going to push it. If I have to I can stretch a double, but I’m trying to run smart.

Christian Walker, First Base
On bouncing back after Sunday…

It feels good. Obviously it was a rough weekend and it wasn’t what we wanted. You’ve got to flush it as soon as possible and move on. We’ve got six games in a row at home, and hopefully we can get them all.
