MILWAUKEE — The South Carolina women’s tennis team finished the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Sunday with another undefeated day at 9-0. The Gamecocks concluded their first fall tournament with an impressive 33-0 record.

“I can’t really ask for a better start to our season than this,” head coach Arlo Elkins said. “All of our girls really played well the entire weekend. We still have plenty of work to do in practice to get better in some areas, but overall, I’m very pleased with the performances I saw.”

Anya Morgina earned the singles champion trophy for the three-day event, and she and Dominika Kanakova were named co-doubles champions. Dijana Stojic and Jaklin Alawi were the other Gamecocks to snag the doubles champion designation. Stojic and Alawi earned singles co-runners-up honors for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic as well. All four Gamecocks receiving accolades at the MTC had 3-0 records in singles and doubles.

Katerina Popova also registered perfect 3-0 marks for singles and doubles, and Adriana Pereira finished 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles. Josefin Andersson went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles, and Dina Guzairova finished 2-0 in both singles and doubles play.

On the final day, South Carolina faced Western Michigan for six singles matches and Kansas State for three doubles contests. Morgina won 6-2, 6-1 against Maria Nivia, and Alawi upended Maggie Remynse 6-1, 6-2. Stojic earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Nini Sujashvili, Kanakova beat April Kerr 6-1, 6-0, Popova downed Rachel Denny 6-4, 6-1, and Pereira beat Kathleen Hawkins 7-5, 6-2.
