COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head softball coach Beverly Smith and her staff have scheduled five clinics for the winter months, with three in November and two more in January.
On November 20, the Gamecocks have two morning-session clinics. A defense and base-running clinic starts at 10, where players can pick up tips and drills to help them in the field and on the base paths. At the same time, pitchers can learn about the curveball in a specialized workout with Coach Smith and the Gamecock pitchers.
The third session starts that afternoon, with players working on their game at the plate. Hitters can work on their swing while also getting plenty of instruction on bunting and slapping.
Registration for all three November clinics closes on Nov. 17, with all registrations accepted online at bevsmithsoftball.com.
The two January clinics are set for Mon., Jan. 16. A clinic for pitchers and catchers starts the day at 10 a.m., where the Gamecock coaching staff will work on “Improving the Battery.” The day closes with a hitting session, all geared toward getting your swing ready for 2012. Again, registration is online for both at bevsmithsoftball.com. Be sure to register early, because space is limited. The deadline for the first clinic of 2012 is Jan. 11.
These clinics are open to all females aged 10-18. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment, and lunch will not be provided. Camps are open to all, limited only by gender, age, grade level and/or number of participants.
