COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head volleyball coach Scott Swanson opened registration for his summer camps today (register here), with a session and grouping ready for players of any level.

“We are really excited for our 2012 summer camps and are looking forward to showing all the campers the drills and skills that have helped improve our team in just one short season,” said Swanson. “The team camp will really help surrounding high school teams to prepare for their 2012 season, and the individual camps will teach the necessary skills for players to have a great tryout for their middle school, junior varsity or varsity squads.”

Gamecock Academy will start the camps in May. Weekly sessions on Wednesdays will help players in grades 6-12 get advanced instruction and repeated drills to help teach the good habits to help players prepare for next fall’s season.

Beach Camp makes a return on June 2, where grades 6-12 players can work in the sand to increase their skills in the unique outdoor game.

Two sets of two-day positional camps are scheduled for July, with lots of one-on-one instruction available for players at every spot on the floor. These two camps, on July 8-9 and 10-11, focus on specific skills to help players’ games take the next step forward. Players heading into grades 6-12 will benefit most from this camp.

Younger kids interested in volleyball can enroll in Volley-School, also held on July 10-11. Basic fundamentals and fun will be the focus of this two-day camp for kindergartners through fifth-graders.

High school teams of both varsity and junior varsity level can sign up for the Carolina Team Camp, set for July 12-14. Advanced drills will be taught as well as team dynamics to go along with lots of play against other teams in the camp.

Finally, players who are looking for advanced instruction and refining of their skills can sign up for the Elite Skills Camp, scheduled for July 18-20. These camps will be run like a college practice, with drills and scrimmaging taking place during the three days to help bring out the best in players. This camp is for advanced players in grades 9-12.

Registration and fees for all camps can be found at SCVolleyballCamps.com. There, registrants can fill out the requisite parental consent and medical waiver forms.

All camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
