2012 SC Softball Coaches Clinic
COLUMBIA, S.C. – On Sat., Jan. 14, South Carolina head coach Beverly Smith hosts a coaches’ clinic, with talks covering hitting, defense and pitching during the day.
Beginning at 10 a.m., coaches can learn how the Gamecock coaching staff works with players on a daily basis. With sessions titled “Efficient Workouts for Pitchers,” “Defensive Essentials and Drills” and “Hitting Drills,” youth advisers can learn some of the techniques used at the NCAA Division I level for their practices. After a lunch break, coaches can come view a collegiate practice beginning at 2:45 p.m.
Coaches who sign up for the clinic are also welcomed back for the Mon., Jan. 16 camps hosted by Smith and her staff. Both the sessions, “Pitching and Catching – Improving the Battery” and “Get Your Swing Ready for the 2012 Season,” will be open to the coaching clinic participants.
Preregistration is available now at bevsmithsoftball.com, with the price set at $60. Those unsure if they can make it can wait to sign up on site on Jan. 14, with an all-cash on-site registration fee set for $75 for those who did not preregister. On-site registration will take place at the Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center. Deadline for preregistration is Jan. 12.
Spots still remain open for the player’s clinics on Jan. 16, with those clinics open to females 10-18. Registration ends on Jan. 11. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment, and lunch will not be provided. Camps are open to all, limited only by gender, age, grade level and/or number of participants.
