COLUMBIA, S.C. – Continuing its release of schedules for the 2012-13 academic year, the Southeastern Conference announced the 2013 softball conference schedule on Thursday. South Carolina is set to open its conference schedule on March 15-17 against seven-time Women’s College World Series participant Alabama.

The Gamecocks will also host Kentucky (April 5-7), Georgia (April 12-14) and Florida (May 3-5) in the revamped scheduling format in 2013. The league keeps the traditional eight weekend series while dropping midweek doubleheaders against the remaining teams.

South Carolina will make road trips to LSU (March 22-24), Missouri (March 29-31), Auburn (April 19-21) and Mississippi State (April 26-28) next season.

The 2013 edition of the Gamecocks will be the third under Gamecock head coach Beverly Smith and the first in a new facility on the same site as Beckham Field. It will also be the 40th season of Gamecock Softball, one of the longest-standing programs in the country.
