WACO, Texas – South Carolina’s quest for its third overall national championship ended on Friday, as the Gamecocks’ second-seeded Hunt Seat team was upset by No. 7 seed Texas A&M, 6-2, on Friday at the Extraco Events Center.

With the loss, South Carolina’s Hunt Seat team now falls to the consolation bracket and will face Oklahoma State on Friday afternoon, while the Aggies advance to face Georgia.

Texas A&M built an early lead, as the Aggies won three of four points in Equitation on the Flat. Freshman Katherine Schmidt scored the lone Gamecock point, as she defeated the Aggies’ Elizabeth Solch, 154-135. Kelsey Hart, Kimberly McCormack, and Colvin Hedgepeth all lost their points for Carolina.

In Equitation Over Fences, the Aggies took three of four points, with Schmidt completing her 2-for-2 day by scoring South Carolina’s only jumping point. She defeated Kori Picket, 166-156.

McCormack, Amber Henter, and Carolyn Curcio lost their jumping points.
