Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina junior outfielder Evan Marzilli has been selected in the eighth round of the 2012 MLB Draft. Marzilli was the No. 273 overall pick in the draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Marzilli is the third current Gamecock player to be selected in this year’s draft. Christian Walker and Matt Price were earlier selected today by the Baltimore Orioles. Marzilli earned 2012 SEC All-Defensive Team honors and he is one of two players on the squad this year to have started all 60 games. Marzilli is hitting .288 (68-for-236) with 12 doubles, three triples, a pair of homers, 30 RBI and 50 runs scored.
