COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference has announced a slate of 16 conference games that will be televised in the 2012 women’s soccer season as part of the SEC-ESPN television agreement, and South Carolina has been selected to appear three times on television during the regular season.
The Gamecocks will appear once each on ESPNU, CSS and SportSouth, making South Carolina tied for third with three selected appearances in the league’s TV schedule. The first Battle of the Columbia’s brings national television to Eugene E. Stone III Stadium when the Gamecocks host Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. ET in the SEC opening weekend. The South Carolina-Vanderbilt matchup in Nashville will air on CSS on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. ET, and the South Carolina-Kentucky matchup in Lexington will air on SportSouth on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The announced television schedule marks the sixth consecutive year that the South Carolina women’s soccer team will be featured on national television. The team was a perfect 3-0-0 last season in televised games, outscoring opponents 8-2 in those contests.
The 2012 SEC Tournament final will also be broadcast on ESPNU. The championship match will be played Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The tournament is held at the Orange Beach Soccer Complex in Orange Beach, Ala.
