COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina senior Kimberly McCormack was named NCEA Most Outstanding Hunt Seat Player of the Month, it was announced today.

McCormack went 2-0 in the month of September, with both wins coming in the Gamecocks’ season opening win over No. 5 Oklahoma State on Sept. 29. She started the meet by posting the second-highest score in Equitation Over Fences to win her point as part of a 5-0 sweep for the jumping squad. She completed her perfect day later in the meet with a victory in Equitation on the Flat. Her score of 84 on the Flat was the event-high, and McCormack was named Most Outstanding Player on the Flat.

McCormack’s NCEA honor comes a week after she was named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

McCormack is currently 3-1 this season with one Most Outstanding Player award.

McCormack is currently the career leader in wins for the Gamecocks. Last year, she went 22-8 while posting five MVP’s, and won the Equitation Over Fences championship at the third annual Collegiate Cup, held at the 2012 Winter Equitation Festival in Wellington, Fla. In postseason competition, McCormack went 4-0 at the Southern Equestrian Championships and 3-3 at the NCEA National Championships.

As a sophomore in 2010-2011, McCormack was voted AgSouth Female Athlete of the Year by Gamecock fans. She led the team with 17 wins and seven MVP’s. During the postseason, she went 2-0 at the Southern Equestrian Championships and went 6-0-1 at Nationals.

During her freshman season in 2009-2010, McCormack posted 15 wins and three MVP’s, including a Hunt Seat team-leading 5-1 mark at Nationals – earning her the Hunter Seat MVP at Nationals.
