Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Ray Tanner
Opening Statement…
We’ve been in a bunch of these already and certainly we would have liked to win this game going into the series we’ve got with Florida beginning tomorrow but Wofford did a great job. We got some runs early, pitched pretty well, and Mac Doyle kept them where they needed to be and tied it up. Eric Eck came in and did a super job out of the bullpen, kept us from getting anything else and they came up with a big hit there at the end.”

On how he feels about the team heading into Florida…
Well we’ve played 21 games and I don’t know how many have been 3, 4, or 5 runs, but it seems like all of them. I know a couple of them weren’t that way but a bunch of them have been. Hopefully we’re prepared, I’d like to see us do a little better job, I was disappointed in 11 strikeouts tonight on offense. We’d like to certainly be playing better than we have been, it’s part of the game and we have to be ready tomorrow.

On performance of bullpen
You’re asking for trouble, you put that leadoff guy on you’re asking for trouble most of the time. That ended up being a tough part of the night for us. We were battling, they were battling and we gave some free passes and they didn’t and it came down to a big hit. I give Wofford all the credit in the world, Doyle stepped up big for them and gave them a chance to win the game and then Eck came out of the bullpen and did a super job.

Christian Walker
On team’s mindset after losses…
“We just got to flush it, can’t think about it. There’s no point on dwelling on loses, can’t do anything about it now. We’ve just have to try and turn it around, fight hard, and get some momentum going our way.”

On playing Florida tomorrow…
We’re not really looking at it as playing the number one team, its just Florida. We look forward to it every year. They’re a great team and it’s a great series all the time. It’s a lot of playing hard and a lot of hustle, but it’s not like we’re building up to it trying to knock them off their pedestal. We’re just trying to play our game and get some wins. “

Evan Marzilli
On team’s mindset after losses…
“I think the mindset is just to get back on the win streak. It’s been a tough stretch here but there’s no reason we can’t come out tomorrow and play our butts off and I think that’s what we’re looking forward to do.”

On playing Florida tomorrow…
It’s going to be a big series. Obviously they’re a very good team and we’ve got a very good team too. It’s going to be a battle for the whole weekend and all you can do is show up tomorrow and be ready to go and play as hard as you can.”
