COLUMBIA, S.C. –
To maximize working days for crews constructing South Carolina’s new Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field, the Gamecocks will change two non-conference midweek games from home to road, part of several schedule adjustments being made.

Instead of opening the new venue with a single game on March 13, South Carolina and Furman will play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. that Wednesday at Pepsi Stadium in Greenville, S.C. Also shifting sites is South Carolina’s game against Campbell. The March 19 contest will now take place at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C., at 6 p.m. And to make up the second game lost to rain last weekend in Charleston, South Carolina and Charlotte have agreed to make their April 24 game into a doubleheader that will begin at 4 p.m. at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field.

The Alabama series will be played as scheduled in the new facility off Marion St., with Friday night’s contest set for 7 p.m. EST. Saturday’s game begins at 12 p.m. and will be shown on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, and Sunday’s finale will start at 1 p.m. With some pieces of the stadium still needing work, fans coming to the stadium will notice areas that won’t be accessible during the first weekend, limiting the number of available seats for the three-game set against the defending national champions.

South Carolina continues its season this weekend in the Georgia Southern Eagle Classic, with first pitch for South Carolina’s part of the event taking place at 9:30 a.m. against Alabama State.
