NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the SEC once again highlighted a Community Service Team for men’s basketball for the 2012-13 season. South Carolina junior guard Brian Richardson was named to the squad in 2013.

Richardson has spent time in the Columbia community on several service projects throughout his career. Richardson has participated in work at the Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia, has spent time at exercise classes with senior citizens at Christopher Towers, he has participated in the “Edlympics” at Edventure Museum. He spent time at the Light The Night Walk at Finlay Park, and spent time with Boy Scouts of Columbia following competition at Colonial Life Arena. Richardson helped serve dinner at Transitions Homeless Shelter and helped with meal preparation at the Ronald McDonald House in Columbia.

South Carolina opens SEC Tournament play against Mississippi State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The contest will be televised on the SEC Network.
