Head Coach Chad Holbrook

Opening Statement…
Our pitching got a really big win for us coming off of last weekend. I hate to overemphasize that this is one of 30 games but this one was probably a tad bit more important after what happened last week. It didn’t look good their for a while down 2-0 without a hit in the game and Grayson Long was kind of stuffing us but we found a way to scratch their in the sixth and tie the game. Graham [Saiko] even though he has been hurt gave us some good at bats, even though he was 0-4 but he put the ball in play against a nasty reliever with side arm stuff that gave us a run that held up. Adam Westmoreland I can’t say enough about him he has been great all year long and he was again tonight. I go back to the inning where he struck out Mikey Reynolds there and I was saying to myself when we were down 2-0 that this was the biggest out of the game. It could have gotten away from us right there but Adam [Westmoreland] struck out their best hitter and that was huge for us. And we came back and tied it up and then Tyler Webb was Tyler Webb for us there at the end of the game. It was a big win for us. We didn’t necessarily perform well offensively as thy doubled our hit count but we found a way to win and that is credit to our guys.

Evan’s performance tonight…
I told Coach Meyers today I was going to have a little bit of a quick trigger because I didn’t want what happened last week to happen tonight. Evan is a reliever too and has been groomed to be a reliever for a long period of time and we have to remember that. When he gets to that 50-pitch mark he doesn’t necessarily wear down but since he has been here he has thrown in short stints. Perhaps he fooled us the first two outing because he was throwing on adrenaline and maybe he is getting tired a little quicker. I wanted three good innings out of him tonight I had that in my mind to get three to four good innings and then go to [Adam] Westmoreland.

Graham Saiko

On beating out a infield grounder in the 7th inning…
When you pound the ball on the ground like that and you always have to run a ball like that. I knew when I hit it that it was going to be a close play so I just put my head down and ran as fast as I could.

On feeling rusty tonight after coming off the wrist injury…
The wrist didn’t really bother me tonight I made an effort on the diving catch to not let my wrist hit the ground. To answer the first part of your question, mentally I was ready to play but it has been a long week and a half trying to get back on the field so I was a little rusty. My swings specifically were a little slow but the important thing is we came out and got the win.

LB Dantzler

On reading the Texas A&M pitcher…
I was reading fastball (on the pitch) because he hadn’t shown me a breaking ball even in warm-ups so I was just thinking that he was going to try and get a strike and blow it by me and I was fortunate enough to catch up to one.

On tonight’s win and breaking the loosing streak…
It feels great anytime you can win the first game of the series it is huge. We have [Nolan] Belcher going tomorrow and we have a lot of confidence in him he has been throwing well. We are pumped to get this win but now we have to get ready for tomorrow.

Adam Westmoreland

On tonight’s performance…
It feels great to just try to go out and get ahead of hitters to keep us in the game and let our offense work. I just try to throw strikes and allow our defense to work behind me.

On 17 strike outs for the pitching staff tonight…
Going out we knew [Evan] Beal was going to give us a solid outing to start out with because he just has electric stuff. We know he is going to get after hitters and try and get ahead. When you get ahead you really just try and throw strikes and let them get themselves out and fortunately tonight we had a good number of strikeouts.
