ATHENS, Ga. – The South Carolina track and field program competed in the first day of the Spec Town National Team Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia at Spec Towns Track. Competing in just five events on the day, the Gamecocks collected two top-5 finishes.
Senior Breanna Radford continued her run of top-five finishes in the shot put on Friday. Radford recorded a throw of 53-06.25 (16.31) to take second place. Entering the weekend, Radford was ranked third in the SEC and fifth in the East in the shot put with her mark of 54-05 (16.56m).
Redshirt junior Dorian Johnson took fourth in the men’s triple jump. Johnson leap of 49-08.50 (15.15m) secured the top-five finish for the Gamecock. Currently, Johnson is currently ranked fifth in the SEC and 16th in the East.
Tomorrow, a full day of action is slated to start at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s javelin and pole vault. The women’s 5,000-meter run is the first of the track events and is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
