COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former Gamecock honorable mention All-American Shonda Cole added more hardware to her trophy case this week, claiming the MVP award from the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior Volleyball League Championship Series after leading her team to the title.

Cole, who plays for the Mayaguez Indians, tallied 80 points in the four-match sweep in the best-of-seven series. Of those, 26 came in the final match, a five-set thriller that the Indians won 15-12 in the final frame. She also led the team in the first two matches with 21 points in each.

A Kings Mountain, N.C., native, Cole lettered from 2003 to 2006 for the Gamecocks and holds the program record for kills per set and attacks.
