Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina senior right-handed pitcher Patrick Sullivan has been named to the 2013 SEC Community Service Team. The SEC supports a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts.
One of three captains on this year’s team, Sullivan was the co-chair of the 2011 Carolina Clemson Blood Drive by the American Red Cross and has worked with Better World Books for the last three years collecting books and donations throughout campus. Sullivan has volunteered at two different elementary schools and with the Palmetto Baseball Youth Baseball League. He has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll each year of his career at South Carolina, is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Med Honor Society and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Earlier this year, Sullivan was recognized as the South Carolina male nominee for the SEC’s Brad Davis Community Service Postgraduate Scholarship. As the Gamecocks’ male selection, he will receive $5,000 to use toward a graduate program within the next five years. He recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
