COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former South Carolina first baseman Christian Walker has been selected to play in the 2013 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on All-Star Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Citi Field in New York. Walker, a three-year letterwinner from 2010-12 for the Gamecocks, is currently playing in the Baltimore Orioles organization for Class A Advanced Frederick.

The 15th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place at 2 p.m. ET on All-Star Sunday at Citi Field in New York and can be seen live on MLB.com, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com’s Gameday. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio XM 89. MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game. Walker began the season with Class A Delmarva where he hit .345 (40-for-116) in 31 games with a .412 on-base percentage. After being promoted, Walker is now hitting .292 (61-for-209) with the Frederick Keys with eight homers and 33 RBI.

Walker had a highly successful career with the Garnet & Black as a member of the back-to-back national championship teams in 2010 and 2011 as well as the national runner-up squad in 2012. Walker concluded his three-year career with a .336 average (248-for-737), 30 homers and 168 RBI in 197 games. Walker was a two-time All-America selection in 2011 and 2012 as well as a Freshman All-America honoree in 2010. He was named to the College World Series All-Tournament team three consecutive years and tied a CWS record for hits also in a career as he notched 28 that put him alongside Dustin Ackley of North Carolina (2007-09).
