COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina incoming freshman Katelyn Dambaugh will open play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship on Monday at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
The championship, which runs through Aug. 11 on the par-71, 6,488-yard layout, will begin with a field of 156 golfers. After 36 holes of stroke play, the field will be cut to the low 64 scorers for five days of match play.
A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Dambaugh qualified for the championship by shooting a 1-under 71 to finish in a tie for third in a sectional qualifier at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Cougar Point in July.
Dambaugh is scheduled to tee off in the first round of stroke play on Monday at 2:10 p.m. Live scoring will be available at USGA.org.
