CHARLESTON, S.C. — South Carolina incoming freshman Katelyn Dambaugh posted a 3-over 74 on Monday in the opening round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at the Country Club of Charleston.

A native of Goose Creek, S.C., Dambaugh finished the day in a tie for 28th and is five shots back of leader Allisen Corpuz, who carded a 2-under 69. Dambaugh recorded two birdies, five bogeys and 11 pars on the afternoon.

The field will be cut to the low 64 scorers following Tuesday’s stroke play round. The format will then switch to match play for five days.

Dambaugh will tee off in the second round at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at USGA.org.
