CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –

The South Carolina women’s golf team shot a 3-over 291 on Saturday at the UNC Finley Golf course to finish in a tie for 11th place after two rounds of the Tar Heel Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina.

After shooting a second-round 282 (-6), Duke is currently in first place with a score of 568 (-8). Alabama turned in a 7-under 281 in the second round for a total of 580 (+4) and a 2nd place finish. Oklahoma finished the day in third place with a score of 582 (+6). The Gamecocks are just eight strokes off the third place Sooners with a two-round score of 590.

Justine Dreher again carded the low round for South Carolina to finish the day in a tie for 4th place. The native of Valbonne, France, turned in a second-round score of 71 (-1) for a total of 141 (-3). Dreher opened play on the No. 10 hole and tallied three birdies on the back side. The junior went on to register a double bogey, a bogey and a birdie on the front.

Sophomore Sarah Schemelzel shot a 2-over 74 in the second round to end the day in a tie for 47th place. Schmelzel bogeyed on the No. 10 and 11 holes to begin the round and added another bogey and a birdie on the front side.

Freshman Katelyn Dambaugh and senior Suzie Lee concluded second-round play in a tie for 58th place with two-round scores on 151 (+7). Dambaugh shot an even-par 72 while recording two birdies and two bogeys on the day. Lee carded a 3-over 75 and registered three bogeys and a birdie.

Sophomore Mary Fran Hillow finished next on the leaderboard in a tie for 66th place. Hillow shot a 77 (+5) in the second round for a total of 152 (+8).

Samantha Swinehart shot a second-round 2-over 74, giving the senior a total of 154 (+10) and putting her in a tie for 77th place. Swinehart birdied on the No. 10 to begin the round and went on to tally three bogeys.

Clemson’s Ashlan Ramsey claimed the top spot on the leaderboard after second round action with a score of 137 (-7). LSU’s Caroline Nistrup and Duke’s Laetitia Beck are in a tie for second place a score of 140 (-4).
