COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley announced that Bianca Cuevas (Bronx, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play for the Gamecocks. Cuevas will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2014-15 academic year.

“Bianca is every bit of New York,” Staley said. “She comes to us with a lot of flash and can put the ball in the hole. She has deep 3-point range and can get to the basket at will. She has a New York floater and incredible court vision. We’re looking for her to make the people in Colonial Life Arena very happy about her sparky play.”

Ranked as the eighth-best point guard in the nation, Cuevas is slated as high as No. 44 in the nation by ESPNW. The 5-foot-6 point guard has helped her high school team to consecutive state titles and is already a three-time all-state selection. As a junior, she averaged 17.1 points, 2.0 assists and 3.8 steals.
