Alaina Coates Named AgSouth Athlete of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Freshman Alaina Coates from the Gamecock women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Coates, who was also named SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time of season this week, had a Gamecock freshman record 17 rebounds against Kentucky. She posted her fourth-straight double-double with 10 points against UK as well. Against Auburn, Coates scored 14 of the Gamecocks’ 39 points in the first half after hitting 4-of-5 from the field.

Coates has scored in double figures in six straight games, including every SEC contest of her career.
