COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head coach Boo Major announced on Thursday the signing of California native Raleigh Bacharach (Los Angeles/Campbell Hall) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Gamecocks for the 2014-2015 season. Bacharach will ride with Carolina’s hunt seat team, and she will be eligible to compete in both equitation over fences and equitation on the flat.

“Raleigh is our first west coast signee for next season and we are thrilled to be having her join our team,” Major said. “Raleigh has gotten in to showing in the jumpers and equitation and she’s proven to be a very talented rider and someone that’s going to be able to help us out on the hunt seat side.”

Bacharach trains with Erin Duffy at Erin Duffy Show Stables.

In 2011, Bacharach was the Pacific Coast Horse Show Association Children’s Jumper Year-End Champion for Zone 10. She also was named Mid-Circuit Best Child Rider at HITS Thermal in 2011.

Her parents are Burt and Jane Bacharach, and she has two brothers, Oliver and Christopher Bacharach.

A senior at Campbell Hall in North Hollywood, Calif., Bacharach is a member of the Cum Laude Society and has been named to the Headmasters List.

Bacharach plans to be a business major in the Darla Moore School of Business. She chose South Carolina over Texas Christian University, Vanderbilt University, University of Georgia, University of Virginia, Pepperdine University, Chapman University, and University of San Diego.
