NEW ORLEANS – The South Carolina women’s track and field team is 25th in this week’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings released on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks, who were No. 23 in last week’s rankings, are one of a nation-leading eight teams from the SEC in the rankings.
The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points. Preseason marks will be included in the rankings calculations through the week three edition.
Last weekend, the Gamecocks captured a team win at the Bill Carson Invitational. They continue competition with Sarah Graham in the heptathlon at the Mt. Sac Relays in Azusa, Calif., on Wednesday and Thursday. This weekend, South Carolina hosts the USC Outdoor Open, the final home meet of the season, on Saturday at Weems Baskin Track.
