Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement

It was a solid win for us. I don’t think we were all that great in many aspects. We had two errors there in the first inning and that got me in a sour mood to start and we walked four in the first inning and two thirds. It wasn’t a clean start for us, but it was good to get the win. Some games when you start that way, it’s too tough to climb out of the hole and you end up losing. I’m proud of our guys for competing and finding a way to win the game. I’m especially proud of Hunter Privette and the way that he pitched. He’s a senior and a captain of our team and he hasn’t had many opportunities. For him to come in and pitch in some pretty tight situations there, I couldn’t be more proud of him. I think that was the part of this game that I feel most proud of is how Hunter performed. Other than that we’ll try to get healed up in the next 48 hours. I have a lot of decisions to make on who’s going to be the 27 active guys for the Alabama series. I hope we can get a few guys back, but I don’t know at this point in time how that will shake out. All in all, I’m sitting here proud that we’re 32-10 and we have the biggest series of the year coming up upon us.

On Grayson Greiner’s status
He was just hustling trying to get to third base. I didn’t see the play and I haven’t seen it on video yet. But, once the USC Upstate player dropped the ball, he [Grayson] turned it on pretty good and he was just trying to get to third base. He jammed his neck and hit his head pretty good, I thought it was a concussion. When you get your concussion tests these days, when you get your bell rung, a lot of times you’re out a week because of all the baseline concussion testing. It’s not like it was in the past when I played and you’d get your bell rung and play the next day, they don’t let you do that anymore, and rightfully so. Luckily we did have some good news on the injury front, he did pass all the concussion tests. As of now I think he’ll be ready to go Friday.

Senior Right-handed pitcher Hunter Privette
On pitching in relief

I felt like it was my job as a older guy to come into [a relief] situation, but I honestly think any guy in our bullpen could have come in and done that.

On his performance
I mixed up my arm angles and I guess they just didn’t know where I was coming from with any of my pitches.

Junior First-Baseman Kyle Martin
On the four win streak

We are all coming together so hopefully that [the win streak] carries on. Alabama is a great team so it will be a tough weekend, but if we play the way we are right now and the way we can, we will pull through.

Junior Third-Baseman Joey Pankake
On the four win streak

We feel good as a team right now and we are starting to score a few more runs. We could play a little better defense, but I think we are in a good spot heading into the weekend.
