NeSmith Earns PING All-Southeast Region Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina sophomore Matt NeSmith has been named to the PING All-Southeast Region Team for the second-straight year, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.
NeSmith, a second-team All-SEC selection, has helped lead the Gamecocks back to the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row. He has played in all 11 tournaments and posted a stroke average of 71.91, which currently ranks third all-time for a single season at South Carolina. A native of North Augusta, S.C., NeSmith is tied for the team lead seven top-20 finishes, including four top-fives.
A total of 157 players across six regions – Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West – earned all-region honors.
NeSmith and the Gamecocks will tee off at the NCAA Championship on Friday at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
