EUGENE, Ore. – One of the newest additions to the South Carolina track & field program, Clarence Gallop, a transfer from Charleston Southern, finished 13th in Group B qualifying and 24th overall today in the hammer throw at the IAAF World Junior Championships held at Hayward Field. Only the top 12 competitors qualify for the finals.
The rising sophomore’s top throw of the day came on his first of three attempts, hitting a mark of 216-04 (65.95m). Earlier this month, Gallop qualified for the Junior World Championships by finishing second in the event at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships with a personal best throw of 222-0 (67.66m).
