COLUMBIA, S.C. – GamecocksOnline.com will break down each of the Gamecocks’ non-conference opponents this week, following the release of the non-conference schedule on July 22. We conclude our non-conference breakdown with a look at cross-state rival Clemson, first-time opponents Coker and NC A&T and the Big 12’s Iowa State.

Clemson

2013-14 Season Notables: The Tigers returned to postseason play for the first time since 2011 and advanced to the semifinals of the NIT … Clemson won 10 games in the ACC regular season for only the fourth time in school history … Clemson led the NCAA in three-point percentage defense (.285) and the ACC in blocks per game (6.1) … Junior wing K.J. McDaniels was ACC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 100 blocked shots … McDaniels was first-team All-ACC at the conclusion of the season after averaging 17.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game … McDaniels turned pro after his junior season … Landry Nnoko ranked third in the ACC with 2.0 blocks per game, while point guard Rod Hall was ninth in both assists per game and assist-turnover ratio.

2013-14 Season Notables: Junior Larry Felder was named the SAC Player of the Week in November, making him the first Coker basketball player to do so in the conference … Senior Julian Nelson reached the 1,000 point mark and finished his career with 1,418 total points, good enough for fourth on the all-time scoring list at Coker … Senior Sharod Williams would move to fourth on the all-time rebound list at Coker with 508 career boards … Nelson was also named the All-SAC honorable mention team after averaging 19 points a game this past season.

2013-14 Season Notables: Senior guard Lamont Middleton was a third-team All-MEAC selection and broke the school record for free throws made and attempted in a season with 218 and 275 respectively … Middleton also broke the school’s single-game record for free throws made and attempted by going 18-for-21 at the line against Florida A&M on Feb. 18 … As a team, the Aggies were 653-for-927 from the line, both marks were also school records … The Aggies lost three of their top four scorers in Lamont Middleton, Richaud Pack and Jeremy Underwood … Bruce Beckford is the leading returner scorer at 11. 2 points per game.

Iowa State

2013-14 Season Notables: Iowa State finished 28-8 and advanced to its third-straight NCAA Tournament … The Cyclones won the Big 12 Tournament … ISU’s NCAA Tournament run was halted by eventual national champion UCONN in the regional semifinals … The Cyclones were playing without All-Big 12 third-team selection Georges Niang, who suffered a broken bone in his foot while scoring 24 points in 26 minutes in the second round win against North Carolina Central … The Cyclones led the Big 12 and finished fifth nationally averaging 83.0 points per game … Freshman Monté Morris broke the NCAA record with a 4.79 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Season ticket prices for the upcoming season remain unchanged from the 2013-14 campaign, with full season packages starting at $90. Like last season, fans can purchase lower level season tickets for $260 (Gamecock Club membership required for sections 104-106, 113-115) and University faculty and staff can buy tickets for $210. The Coke Family Section is available for $600 (four tickets). Upper level tickets are available for $200 (no Gamecock Club membership required) and faculty and staff can purchase tickets in the upper bowl for $160. End zone seating in the upper level is priced at four seats for $360.

Gamecock fans who have already renewed their season tickets for the 2014-15 campaign and those fans who purchase new or renew their season tickets during the “8K In 8 Days” campaign, are eligible to win a prize each day of the initiative. Prizes include a game-worn jersey, an autographed basketball, a $100 gift card to Garnet and Black Traditions, and the grand prize, a VIP trip with the team for an away game to an exciting destination.
