Gamecocks Announce Start Times for Fall Competitions

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team on Wednesday announced start times for all of the Gamecocks’ fall meets, both home and away. Carolina will compete six times during the fall, with four of those competitions taking place on the road. The team also announced times for two of the Gamecocks’ three away competitions during the spring semester.
South Carolina will begin the 2014-2015 season on Sept. 19, when the Gamecocks travel to Manhattan, Kan. to face Kansas State. The two teams kicked of the 2013-2014 season in Blythewood, with the Gamecocks defeating the Wildcats, 15-5. This will mark Carolina’s first trip to Manhattan since March 8, 2013, when the Gamecocks lost 14-6 to the Wildcats.
The Gamecocks return home two weeks later when Carolina hosts Georgia on Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at One Wood Farm in Blythewood. The home opener will also serve as a rematch of last year’s SEC Championship and NCEA National Championship. The Gamecocks won their second straight SEC Championship with a 10-10 tiebreaker win over the Bulldogs on March 29. Three weeks later, the two teams faced off in the national championship, with the Bulldogs winning, 8-8, on a tiebreaker.
Carolina will also host SEC foe Texas A&M on Oct. 31 in a rematch of last year’s SEC semifinal meet. The Gamecocks defeated the Aggies, 12-7, to advance to the SEC Championship.
Admission is free to all Gamecock equestrian events.
