COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head men’s tennis coach Josh Goffi announced that Yancy Dennis (Reisterstown, Md.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play for the Gamecocks. Dennis will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2015-16 academic year. It is the fourth-straight year that Goffi has added at least one blue-chip rated player to his program.

“We are truly excited to bring in one of our nation’s best players,” Goffi said. “Yancy is a great kid fro a great family with personal goals that fall right in line with where this program is headed.”

Part of the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Md., Dennis is rated the No. 17 player in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net and stands at No. 23 in the USTA. With a 37-10 overall record, including an 11-1 mark against five-star opponents, he reached the round of 16 at the 2014 USTA B18-16 National Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., in August, an effort that included wins over two top-25 players. Dennis’ summer efforts included appearances in four USTA sectional championship finals, from which he took home three titles.
