COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina senior Will Murphy has been named a second team All-Amateur selection by Global Golf Post, the online publication announced in its December issue.

A native of Columbia, S.C., Murphy was one of 211 men and women from 23 countries honored, as Global Golf Post made selections from the amateur, mid-amateur and senior amateur levels.

Murphy, who earned PING Honorable Mention All-America honors after finishing tied for 15th at the 2014 NCAA Championship, won two prestigious amateur events last year, claiming the Azalea Invitational in March and capturing the Sunnehanna Amateur title in June.

During the Gamecocks’ fall season, Murphy played in three tournaments and helped lead the team to a win at the Carpet Capital Collegiate with a tie for eighth finish.

Murphy and the Gamecocks will open their spring schedule at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships on Feb. 20-22 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
