COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s basketball opens its SEC schedule on Fri., Jan. 2, at Colonial Life Arena, and the league slate has many features beyond simply playing the eight games. The Gamecocks will host five Chalk Talks Presented by AllSouth Federal Credit Union open to season-ticket holders and two postgame instructional clinics open to anyone in eighth grade or younger along with special events planned around the annual “We Back Pat” and “Play 4 Kay” games. Also new in SEC play is that doors to Colonial Life Arena will open 90 minutes before tipoff for each league game.

A bulk of this season’s Chalk Talks are scheduled for league play as the program expanded this season based on feedback from fans. Open to season-ticket holders, these sessions begin one hour and 15 minutes before tipoff and feature guest speakers and assistant coaches breaking down that day’s game. The schedule of guests for each Chalk Talk is:

  • Jan. 11 vs. Kentucky – Associated Head Coach Lisa Boyer – South Carolina Sr. Assoc. AD Charles Bloom to discuss the SEC Network
  • Jan. 26 vs. Texas A&M – Guests Brian Corley and SEC Assistant Commissioner Leslie Claybrook
  • Jan. 29 vs. Alabama – Assistant Coach Darius Taylor – South Carolina Assoc. AD Eric Nichols and TV analyst Debbie Antonelli
  • Feb. 12 vs. LSU – Assistant Coach Nikki McCray-Penson – South Carolina Women’s Basketball Director of Operations Cynthia Jordan
  • Feb. 23 vs. Tennessee – South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner

Two of the Gamecocks’ three postgame instructional clinics will come during SEC play. South Carolina women’s basketball staff will work with kids in eighth grade or younger following the Jan. 11 game against Kentucky and the Feb. 15 game against Vanderbilt.

Other dates to look for special promotions and activities are: Mon., Jan. 26 vs. Texas A&M as the designated “We Back Pat” game and Mon., Feb. 23 as the Gamecocks’ “Play 4 Kay” game. Both games will air on ESPN2 as part of the network’s Big Monday schedule.
