Head Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement
It was a difficult loss for our team. I have no problem with my team; they played as hard as they possibly could play. They were into every pitch and they played great defense. I know we didn’t swing the bat that well, but we did manage 14 hits in thirteen innings against a really good pitching staff. We had opportunities to win the game, but we just couldn’t get that big hit. We’ve won some of these types of games but baseball has a way of evening it out. We had a couple of opportunities to win the game. We left the bases loaded a couple of times and had a couple of veteran guys at the plate with an opportunity to win it, but we couldn’t do it and that’s baseball. I’m proud of my team for the way they competed and battled. They gave it everything they had and we were just on the short end of the stick in this instance.

On Joel Seddon and keeping him in the game
He gave us everything that he had. He had a couple of innings there where he threw a very few number of pitches, but he was about out of gas. We felt like, to win the game, he was going to have to get us through one more inning. Joel was terrific and Jack [Wynkoop] was terrific. There were a couple of plays that we didn’t make in the regulation part of the game, as far as a bunt play. But give [Florida] credit too. They are a pretty darn good team. We just couldn’t get that big one when we needed it, and that was basically it.

Junior Infielder Joey Pankake
On the tough loss
It was a tough loss. We just couldn’t get the big hit when we needed it. We had guys on base in what seemed like every inning. We played hard. I’m not mad at the way we played. We just couldn’t get the big hit when we needed it.

Junior Pitcher Joel Seddon
On how long he thought he would be out there
In between every inning Coach Meyers kept going and asking me if I could go one more. It was an inning-by-inning thing. My arm felt great, I kind of ran out of gas a little bit there at the end, but I felt really good so I kept going back out there.
