- Dana Fulmer hailed from Blythewood, S.C.
- She said the numbers aren’t what in her memory but the time spent on the field and with her teammates.
- Her former teammates and her reminisce occasionally and refer to their playing days as the best days they will experience.
- She picked SC because of its long history of softball greatness and her desire to be a part of it.
- The intensity of the workouts and pressures to uphold that tradition seemed daunting sometimes, but she remarks on the privilege of wearing that uniform.
- Some of her favorite memories is sitting with her teammates and watching the selection show on TV to see if they made the NCAA Tournament.
- Learning they were hosting in 1994 and hosting the defending national champs UCLA was unlike anything she had experienced since.
- “It was exciting, emotional and a very humbling moment for us all.” – said Fulmer.
Current Life
- Fulmer coached Division I softball for 15 years, including eight years as the head coach at Providence (1998-2005).
- She now serves as an associate athletic director and adjunct professor at Mitchell College in New London, Conn.
- She has two daughters, Addison and Tatum, that she hopes to see on the softball field some day.
