Coach Chad Holbrook
Opening Statement
“It was a well played game, a great college baseball game, I thought. (Ryan) Powers and (Wil) Crowe were phenomenal, two big boys out there. Powers was good coming into the game. He was 9-3 a year, ago with great numbers. I see why after watching him throw tonight. Wil was very effective and we played incredible defense behind Wil. (Vince) Fiori came in and was perfect and then Taylor (Widener) got the last out. We made some great plays defensively. The cut off relay play Jordan (Gore) threw home was just like we practiced it. Jordan made a great play on a one-hop line drive play. Fiori made a great play on a bunt that went probably unnoticed; I think that was a great play. Elliott (Caldwell) made a nice play in right field. We pitched and played defense today and that’s kind of what we talk about all the time. If you pitch and play defense you have a chance to win and that’s what we did. It was just a great college baseball game.”

On Wil Crowe’s performance<>br “He was anxious to get back out there and throw the ball. He was very efficient and worked fast, and their (Miami’s) kid worked fast. It was well played, well pitched, and well played defensively. It was just one of those games. It’s big for Wil and I know it’s a good shot of confidence for him going into next week.”

On Logan Koch’s homerun
“It was good to see him get into one. It was probably the farthest I’ve seen him hit the ball since he’s been here. It was against a good quality pitcher and a 90 mph fastball on the inside part of the plate. It was certainly encouraging to see and then he got another hit up the middle. It was certainly encouraging for us to win a game.”

Sophomore Catcher Logan Koch
On his first career home run
“I knew it was good off the bat, it felt good. I’ve been working a lot with Coach Buscher in the cage trying to shorten my swing up and make more contact. I felt good in the fall, I came back in and haven’t felt comfortable until today. Obviously, it’s baseball; all it takes is that one day. I got a one up fastball and got a pretty good hit on the plate. “

Sophomore Right-Hander Wil Crowe
On the defense’s performance after last week
“The defense played great, they really saved me. I just kept throwing strikes and once we made a few good plays, I knew they had my back for the rest of the game, so I just kept letting them work.”
