On pitches before grand slam
I wasn’t really thinking much other than I need to put the ball in play and compete against him. I just shortened up and put a good swing on it, I was mainly just not trying to expand the zone too much and see a pitch I could put a decent swing on and put the ball in play.
On advantage of Brown walking bases full
He was scuffing us until that point. It was a big at bat and I thought maybe I could turn something around. So that’s what I did. Put a good swing on a good pitch.

On what made his performance so effective
Just locating my fastball really. They started spitting on pitches that were swing and miss and I just figured out that they weren’t going to swing at those so I just tried to beat them with the fastball and that started working.
On first win of the series
I think it will help our confidence a little bit. We just have to keep doing what we do – go out and battle every pitch and we will be a pretty good team.

Opening Statement
I think that the story was Wil Crowe, I told him after the game that his game was as impressive a performance in the conditions that were out there, against an SEC team, a team that came in hitting over 300. He just competed and threw his tail off. He set the tone for us. We didn’t play great defense behind him obviously but he pitched around that. He was kind of a one man wrecking crew on defense for us tonight. He set the tone from the get-go. We were only one behind and it could have been a lot worse but he wouldn’t let it be worse. I was hoping like crazy we would get a few runs for him and I looked up in the in the fifth before we hit and they got one hit and they were winning the game and I thought we couldn’t let this good start go to waste cause I know I felt he was going to keep pitching that way. Then Cody (Mincey) came in and made his second appearance and threw ok and kept them off the scoreboard. It was a good win, good way to start SEC play. We will enjoy it for an hour or so and turn our attention to tomorrow.
On the grand slam
It was obviously the biggest swing of the bat of the game for us. He (Max Schrock) was the right man at the right time at the right spot and he got the right pitch. He had battled and competed, it was a good at bat, he got a pitch he could handle and he put a good swing on it. He has been swinging the bat a lot better, 5 RBIs tonight I was as impressed with that triple to the LCF gap as I was at the home run just because he has been working so hard on using the other side of the field. Max has got confidence going and swinging the bat well. He produced in a big way.
