COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Tuesday that sophomore forwards Reggie Theus Jr. and Demetrius Henry, and freshman guard/forward Shamiek Sheppard will not be returning to South Carolina next season.

“Following our end-of-year meetings Reggie asked for his release so that he can transfer and be closer to his family,” Martin said. “Reggie is a fine young man who has represented our team and program in the best way possible ever since he stepped on campus, and we want to thank him and his family for their contributions to our team.

Demetrius and Shamiek have also asked for their release and will not be with our team next season. We wish them the best moving forward and appreciate all that they and their families contributed to our program.”

Henry saw action in 55 career games with 48 starts. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, posting eight double-figure scoring games and one double-double. Theus saw action in 24 career games, and Sheppard averaged 6.9 minutes in seven career games.
