COLUMBIA, S.C. – Several Gamecocks are participating in summer baseball leagues throughout the United States. Here are some highlights from some of the players that are playing through June 22, 2015.

Hunter Taylor, Matthew Vogel, Taylor Widener have been named to a Coastal Plain League Select Team that will face USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team on June 24 at 3 p.m. at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

Alex Calvert, RHP (Bethesda Big Train – Ripken League)
Calvert is 2-0 with four starts this summer. Calvert has 16 strikeouts in 15.1 innings and has allowed seven runs, six earned, on eight hits with a 3.52 ERA.

Gene Cone, OF (Cotuit Kettleers – Cape Cod League)
Cone and the Cotuit Kettleers have played 11 games. Cone is batting .167 (6-for-36) with two runs scored and a RBI.

Canaan Cropper, RHP (Lexington County Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Cropper is 1-1 with a 6.55 ERA after three starts with the Blowfish. He has eight strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work.

Alex Destino (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Destino is batting .246 (16-for-65) with seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple a homer and 14 RBI in 15 games played. He has also pitched one scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts.

Everett Eynon (Wilson Tobs – Coastal Plain League)
Eynon is batting .222 (14-for-63) with 10 runs scored, a double and two RBI.

Tyler Haswell (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
Haswell is 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA in five games with four starts. He has allowed nine runs, seven earned, on 24 hits with eight walks and 24 strikeouts in 26.0 innings pitched. Opponents are batting .255 against him.

Tyler Johnson (Plymouth Pilgrims – The New England League)
Johnson is 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA in two starts. He has allowed six runs, five earned, on 12 hits with four walks and nine strikeouts in 12.0 innings of work.

Marcus Mooney (Wilson Tobs – Coastal Plain League)
Mooney is batting .286 (12-for-42) in 12 starts with five runs, two doubles and five RBI.

John Parke (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Parke is 2-1 with a 6.10 ERA in four starts with the Sharks. Parke has allowed 15 runs, 14 earned, on 28 hits in 20.2 innings with 12 walks and 20 strikeouts.

Weber Pike (Aldie Senators – Valley League)
Pike is batting .300 (12-for-40) with five runs scored, two doubles and 14 RBI.

Clark Scolamiero (Wilson Tobs – Coastal Plain League)
Scolamiero is hitting .274 (23-for-84) with 17 runs scored, two doubles and five RBI. He leads the Tobs with 10 stolen bases.

Reed Scott (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Scott is 0-1 with a 2.84 ERA in three appearances. He has allowed five runs, four earned, on 10 hits in 12.2 innings with three walks and nine strikeouts.

Madison Stokes (Lexington County Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Stokes is batting .286 (24-for-84) in 22 games played with 21 starts. Stokes has scored 12 runs, tallied 13 RBI and has three doubles and two triples. He also has stolen eight bases.

Hunter Taylor (Peninsula Pilots – Coastal Plain League)
Taylor is batting .238 (10-for-42) with five runs scored, a double, a homer and five RBI in 12 games with 10 starts. Taylor is one of three Gamecocks that will play on a Coastal Plain League Select team that will face the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on June 24 at the USA Baseball Complex.

Matthew Vogel (Wilmington Sharks – Coastal Plain League)
Vogel has not allowed a run in six relief appearances and has notched three saves. Vogel has allowed just three hits in 6.1 innings with three walks and 13 strikeouts. Vogel is one of three Gamecocks that will play on a Coastal Plain League Select team that will face the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on June 24 at the USA Baseball Complex.

Taylor Widener (Lexington County Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Widener is 1-0 with a 0.83 ERA after four starts with the Blowfish. Widener has allowed five runs, two earned, on 15 hits with four walks and 33 strikeouts in 21.2 innings of work. Opponents are batting .185 against him. Widener’s 33 strikeouts leads the Coastal Plain League. Widener is one of three Gamecocks that will play on a Coastal Plain League Select team that will face the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on June 24 at the USA Baseball Complex.

Jared Williams (Lexington County Blowfish – Coastal Plain League)
Williams is hitting .341 (29-for-85) with 19 runs scored and 11 RBI. He leads the Blowfish with nine stolen bases. He also has four doubles.

Matt Williams (Florence Redwolves – Coastal Plain League)
Williams is batting .234 (11-for-47) in 15 starts with 10 runs scored, two doubles one triple and seven RBI.
