Aug. 7, 2015 Every team has the goal of ending their year ranked No. 1, while every Gamecock fan has the goal in mind of being the No. 1 fan.
This year and for the foreseeable future all Gamecock fans will get their chance to sport that No. 1 jersey in hopes of a national title and to also show they support South Carolina first above all other teams as the University will only be releasing two jersey numbers for retail this year.
In addition to No. 1, South Carolina will be releasing the number 15 for sale for this upcoming year to correspond with the season.
“That seems to be where it’s going now,” South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner said. “I’d prefer it to be where it was before. If we get to the place where we could remove the financial pressures of that conversation, I think it’s more about fan engagement and the excitement of game day, but it’s a delicate situation.”
