COLUMBIA, S.C. – The first glimpse at the 2015 South Carolina men’s soccer team comes on Sunday under the lights at Stone Stadium, as the Gamecocks host Gardner-Webb in a 7 p.m. exhibition that is free to any fan wanting to attend.
Last year, the Gamecocks made the Conference USA Tournament Championship Match, and five starters return from that group. The squad adds 11 newcomers to the mix, hoping to improve upon last year’s marks. The team’s focus in all three exhibitions will be on mixing different players on the field to see what combinations work best together.
In the Runnin’ Bulldogs, the Gamecocks face a team with nearly 75 percent of its goal scoring back from last year, including leading scorer Ali Al-Gashamy, who tallied seven goals and six assists as a sophomore. Tony Setzer, who’s been at the school for 28 years, leads Gardner-Webb, a member of the Big South Conference.
Students can get their first chance at Student Rewards Points by scanning their Carolina Card at the marketing table on the concourse. Admission is always free for students at all soccer exhibition and regular-season matches.
A reminder to all fans, free parking is available in the Heyward St. Garage, and fans can enter the stadium at either end of the grandstand, at the Heyward St. or Whaley St. entrances. The gate on Marion St. is no longer open to fans while construction continues on the new locker room facility for the soccer teams. Full details are here.
The combined season ticket for men’s and women’s soccer is back, and so is the free scarf given to each season-ticket purchaser! Adults get admission to all home regular-season matches for $25, while youth 17 and under get a ticket for just $10. Buy today at GamecocksOnline.com/tickets.
